Examples of how to figure pricing:
Example #1 - 3 records to be copied, 3 songs to be removed from one of the records, total time of the remaining songs to be copied is 25 minutes.  Cost will be 25 @ $0.40 + 1 @ $4.00 + 3 @ $3.00 + 2 @ $3.00 + shipping = $29.00 plus shipping.
Example #2 - 1 record to be copied, 1 song to be removed from the record, total time of remaining songs to be copied is 30 minutes.  Cost will be 30 @ $0.40 + 1 @ $4.00 + 1 @ $3.00 + shipping = $19.00 plus shipping.

Noise Reduction:
Minor editing such as removing "hiss and click" is included in our pricing.  Advanced noise reduction is tricky and time-consuming, and that is reflected in our pricing.  Noise reduction is a very subjective thing because we are forced to decide which kinds of sounds stay and which ones are removed, and we don't like making those choices.  In the rare occurrence that we find your records needs advanced noise reduction we will
eMail you a recommendation of what is needed along with specific costs.

Do we fix scratched records?
Maybe!  We will first try a thorough cleaning.  All records are cleaned with a StaticMaster cleaning brush to remove small bits of dust that typically cause record clicks.  If cleaning and static reduction does not fix the problems there is probably nothing we can do.  If the record forward-skips, then that few second piece of audio will be missing from the CD.  If it's a back-skip, we will trim out the double sound of the affected song at no charge and transfer the rest as normal.

Can you put two or more short records onto one CD?
Yes.
See special arrangements pricing above.

Can you put part of one record and part of another onto one CD?
Yes.  See special arrangements pricing above.

Sound normalization:
All sound on the CD will be amplified by the same amount, so that the loudest voice or song just maxes out the CD's dynamic range without distortion.  We cannot sound normalize individual tracks or songs because our computer sometimes interprets one song as two separate tracks.  Some songs have a quiet opening part, a long pause, and then a louder part.  We don't want to amplify the quiet (first) part by a different and greater amount than the louder (second) part.  The CD will therefore sound just like the record except that the record's lead-in and lead-out silent part is trimmed and discarded.  After pressing 'play' of your new CD, the first song will start in a couple seconds, and the CD will end just a few seconds after the last song is finished.  Silent time between tracks is set at 3 to 4 seconds.

Other technical stuff:
Each record is loaded into a record deck, played at normal speed, and digitally recorded into a computer using 16 bit stereo sound.  The digital stereo sound files are then trimmed to remove the silent "leader space" at the beginning and end of each file, so that only the full audio program remains.  The digital recording is then amplified to the maximum possible volume to fully exploit the CD's 16-bit dynamic range.  The digital audio files that represent your record are then written onto a high-quality stereo audio CD using standard stereo two channel 16 bit encoding at 44.1kHz sound.  The CD's are conventionally formatted so that they can be played by any system.  If the audio program of a record is too long to fit onto a single CD, it is split between two CD's to make a double album.

CD labeling:
After the CD is produced, an Epson R800 5760x1440dpi CD printer is used to print the record's title's directly onto the CD.  We don't use sticky labels (read more about this on our CD/DVD labeling page), we print directly onto the CD's white surface.  The printed words are very scratch and water-resistant and will last indefinitely.  Labeling included in our pricing is for wording only (up to a maximum character limit of 400 characters).  If special labeling with photo, pictures, or graphics is wanted please visit our CD\DVD labeling page for more details about CD/DVD labeling and label design.

45 day backup:
We keep a temporary 45-day digital backup of every produced CD.  We can reconstruct and re-burn a CD in the extremely rare event of it being lost or damaged during return shipment.  After the 45 day backup period, all audio files associated with your order are permanently deleted.  We do not keep a backup or transcript of your record in either analog or digital form.
